GTE is seeking a highly motivated mechanical engineering student to help develop general arrangement drawings, P&IDs, BOMs, and 3D models using Solidworks/NX and our internal ERP software platform.
In this Mechanical Engineer role, you will be part of a team reviewing system specifications, writing and capturing product functional requirements, selecting components, and generating the technical materials necessary to assemble the final product and submitting customer deliverables.
The candidate would also be expected to lead special facility-wide projects, participate in design reviews (e.g., sizing of pumps, heat exchangers, velocity through pipes, etc.), and perform general office tasks i.e., copying and scanning documents, generating customer documentation, and validating the accuracy of customer drawings to coordinate build-to-print shop packages.
Job Responsibilities
- Generate datasheets, bills of materials, and other documentation for procurement of project materials.
- Reviews designs, drawings, BOMs, and work packages to ensure all customer requirements are met.
- Work with Project Management, Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Field Service teams to execute the full project scope.
- Detailed component specification, sourcing, and procurement.
- Process and Procedure Generation, Training, and adherence.
- Characterize, Design, and Manufacture Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts and systems to assure the fit, form.
- Develop part manufacturing 3D models and 2D designs utilizing latest CAD/PLM/PDM Software tools (Siemens NX/Teamcenter or Solidworks)
- Create and author formal components, material, process and general specifications in support of the part manufacturing process.
- Undertake personal research and investigate applicable patents to determine project scope.
- Ensures safety, reliability and efficiency consideration, global trends and latest norms, standards and innovations are incorporated in the design practice.
- Works closely with suppliers to spec components and obtain cut sheets
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with SiemensNX is a plus
Experience
- 0-2 years of prior relevant experience – Design of skidded equipment is a plus
Education Requirements
- Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering student at an accredited college or university.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally working in and around large skid/frame-based structures and/or enclosure-type housings to evaluate job progress, offer instruction/guidance, make measurements, and/or troubleshoot issues in the course of supporting GTE’s manufacturing process.
