EthosEnergy is currently seeking a SMUD - Quality Manager for our faciility in Sacramento, CA. The O&M Quality Manager is a technical resource for SMUD Sacramento assets.
The position reports to the EthosEnergy SMUD Facility Manager, Campbell’s with a dotted line to EthosEnergy Quality Manager The position encompasses Quality related activities in support of combined cycle and simple cycle gas turbine power plant operations & maintenance (O&M) activities. This position is a primary Quality technical resource for customer/asset-specific activities and encompasses a wide variety of Quality related responsibilities and tasks supporting Operations and Maintenance (O&M). General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, QA/QC and Quality Improvement (QI) activities supporting power plant operations, Quality functions (e.g., reporting, procedure development and control, inspection, corrective action and event analysis (root cause analysis), and reporting. The position will interface with facility management, owner representatives, plant personnel and other Ethos management on a routine basis, while leading Quality initiatives.


The Quality Manager is a fulltime position based in Sacramento, CA that encompasses O&M activities for assets under the management of EthosEnergy. No relocation is expected and travel outside of Sacramento is limited.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement of Quality Program initiatives.
  • Oversight and monitoring of O&M activities.
  • Work both independently and as part of a larger technical team in both on-site and back-office environments.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to understand and resolve Quality issues.
  • Assist with development of O&M procedures, including control and maintenance of procedures, instructions and drawings.
  • Develop project specific Quality Project Plans/Procedures/Instructions.
  • Act as a point of contact for Quality related matters concerning EthosEnergy / SMUD O&M activities
  • Develop, maintain, and implement O&M Quality processes.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Implementation of Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Program.
  • Apply, Lead, and Conduct Root Cause Analysis.
  • Evaluate and implement O&M Quality Improvement projects.
  • Ability to interpret Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument and Controls drawings/diagrams.
  • Time management: ability to prioritize and schedule tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team player: accomplishes tasks by working with others and being a good team player. Recognizes how his/her decisions may impact others; seeks input and open to suggestions from others.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Five (5) years’ minimum Quality related experience within Power Generation, including O&M or similar.
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC/QI processes, such as Procedure Development, Corrective Action, Inspection, Assessments/Audit, Oversight, Vendor Qualification, Instrument Calibration, etc.
  • Quality background with a focus on Electrical and/or Mechanical disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Technical Degree, or equivalent related to power generation (Elect, Mech, etc.).
  • Quality Certifications a plus (e.g., Level I, II, Inspection, CQIA, etc.)

Experience

  • Application of Quality Improvement (QI) Techniques and Principles.
  • Strong procedure development skills, including familiarity with Human Performance techniques.
  • Application of statistical analysis a plus.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/ASME Codes requirements.
  • GE, Siemens or other OEM combustion turbine and steam turbine engineering or operating experience.
  • Problem solving analysis and problem resolution at a functional level.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to training others on Quality principles, processes and techniques. Working knowledge of thermal power systems related to simple cycle, combined cycle & cogeneration.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, MS Project and Quality software applications, as applicable.
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) familiarity a plus.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Technical Degree, or equivalent related to power generation (Elect, Mech, etc.).
  • Quality Certifications a plus (e.g., Level I, II, Inspection, CQIA, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • 20/20 Vision, natural or corrected.
  • Ability to transverse stairs, ladders, walkways, work at heights periodically, and lift 50 pounds.
