We are recruiting for a Procurement Operations Specialist to join our Duncan South Carolina aerospace and defense repair and manufacturing facility. As the Procurement Operations Specialist, you will take the lead to negotiate vendor terms and prices, schedule deliveries, follow up with vendor inquiries and troubleshoot and resolve any discrepancies as they arise. Additional duties include providing operational assistance as related to shop scheduling and performance, import/export compliance, and other duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 2-3 years of work history related to purchasing functions within a manufacturing setting. Strong preference for candidates with some college business course work credit(s) or certification(s) in purchasing and negotiation from accredited/licensed organization. Key competencies for this position include excellent communication skills, professionalism, knowledge of Microsoft Office products, strong organizational systems and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

  • Purchase all inventory and consumable items
  • Expedite all overdue Purchase Orders
  • Establish essential working relationships with Approved Suppliers
  • Maintain proper level of inventory items to assist Production needs
  • Perform weekly routine cycle counts
  • Run Reports to establish purchasing requirements
  • Request quotes from Suppliers
  • Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Prepare Purchase Requisitions for signature approvals
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and send to Suppliers
  • Maintain Shop Supplies for production needs
  • System updates daily / weekly as required
  • Liaise with production to assist in the scheduling of customer orders and priorities - inputting and updating data within ERP database.
  • Create and maintain information required in the salesforce.
  • Liaise with production to communicate customer instructions and job requirements
  • Responsible for the timely creation and distribution of all metrics relating to Shop performance
  • Perform any additional tasks as required

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge office equipment and filing systems
  • Knowledge of trade compliance (import/export rules and guidelines)
  • Knowledge of computer software (MS Office/internet/websites)
  • Knowledge of purchase order processing
  • Knowledge of Customer Service etiquette
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing workload
  • Skilled in use of office equipment and filing systems (fax machines, copiers, phone systems)
  • Skilled in analyzing and solving problems and paying attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read, write, communicate and understand English
  • Ability to process data into useful information
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to compute quotes, etc.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
  • Ability to understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements and other requests for payment

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience directly related to the duties specified (preferably in a manufacturing setting)

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Seminars in Purchasing and Negotiating Techniques
  • Some college in business discipline preferable

Physical Requirements

  • Professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Punctual
  • Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to type and look at a computer monitor for long periods of time
