Our Aerospace & Defense business are seeking a Harness Technician to work within our facility located in Duncan, SC. In this role, you are primarily responsible for the preparation of parts (cleaning and masking), setting up, programming and operating the vacuum furnace and thermal spray process with the authority to carry out all assigned tasks.
Job Responsibilities

- Conducts proper part preparation including cleaning and masking of parts
- Performs proper fixture and grit blast equipment maintenance, including but not limited to gun rebuilding, powder hopper maintenance, trouble shooting and problem solving system issues
- Sets up and operates vacuum furnace and thermal spray
- Grit blasts/glass bead for thermal spray preparation
- Measures tolerances (.006”) as required
- Supports shop floor and individual cells by washing, testing, blasting and some assembly / disassembly
- Works under direction of the lead technician and/or Shop Supervisor
- Works with Engineers, production personal, or others to resolve issues
- Follows all work routings/procedures and quality documentation
- Keeps work area neat and clean at all times
- Must be mentally coherent and free from the influence of drugs (either illegal or legally prescribed drugs that may cause impairment) while performing in the capacity of “safety-sensitive” duties/operations per FAA regulations
- Perform any additional tasks as required
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Knowledge of computer software (MS Office Word, Excel, and Access/internet navigation)
- Knowledge of thermal spray processes
- Knowledge of vacuum furnace operations
- Knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and layout techniques
- Knowledge of basic data entry and/or word processing
- Skilled in operating computers and office equipment (fax machines, copiers, phone system, etc.)
- Skilled in setting up, programming and operating vacuum furnace and thermal spray
- Ability to machine and measure to close tolerances (.006”) as required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to read complex blue prints specifications, charts and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary
- Able to analyze and solve repair/overhaul problems
- Ability to organize workload to meet deadlines & work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Ability to process data into useful information
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English per FAA Regulations
- Able & willing to aid in audits
- Ability to think and concentrate for long periods of time
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations associated with repair work scopes
- Ability to work in a team environment & train others as required
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule
- Ability to learn tasks required to perform the job
Experience
- 2 - 4 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Good dexterity
- Punctual
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours a day
