The Jack County Power Generation Facility located in Bridgeport Texas is seeking a Control Room Operator (CRO) to work on a rotating shift schedule. Essential functions of this critical role include the direction and operation of combustion and steam turbine equipment, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), zero liquid discharge water treatment systems, gas and water pipeline equipment and balance-of-plant equipment to meet power requirements of resource operations. This critical role directs the O&M Technicians in Power Block and Water Treatment Plants in the operation and maintenance of auxiliary equipment. Other essential functions include the maintenance of the station log and preparation of abnormal operation reports and equipment failures.
Job Responsibilities
- Regularly makes decisions on non-routine or escalated technical issues.
- Independently prioritizes and executes responsibilities effectively for a single trade, group of related tasks or functional area.
- Checks own work and possibly the work of others; work results are of the highest quality standards and advanced technical competency.
- Resolves the most complex technical issues, conferring with Team Leader occasionally; may serve as resource to others in resolution of complex issues.
- Works under limited supervision.
- Prioritizes own weekly schedule and may guide others in the completion of tasks within clearly defined schedules as set by management.
- Regularly provides on-the-job skills training to others in complex technical areas.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated and a good team player
- Computer literate and competent in the use of Word and Excel
Experience
- 5+ years power plant operations experience
- 3- 5 years as a qualified CRO at a combined cycle plant preferred
- Perform a variety of complex technical service/support duties requiring specialized knowledge
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school, military service or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, stooping and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, holidays and call outs.
- Able to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and maintenance.
- Requires hearing within normal range, hearing aids are permitted.
- Requires vision within normal range, corrective lens is permitted.
- Requires wearing personal safety equipment.
- Requires working inside and outside of an electric generating plant in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes with extreme ranges of humidity and dryness.
- Requires working in areas of constant high noise and vibration levels.
