As Diesel Engine Mechanic, you are responsible for all preparations for services of Customers Fleet of Diesel Engines. This is an Experienced level skilled trade position working independently and/or with guidance from Customers Rotating Equipment supervisor & Company’s site service manager
Job Responsibilities
- Identify all parts, tooling and materials required for 1 yr , 2yr and 4yrs services of Diesel engines within customers fleet.
- Prepare detailed inspection and test plans.
- Identify manpower requirements as per contract requirements.
- Ability to write Detailed method statements.
- Execute routine annual maintenance both onshore and offshore, with assistance of company’s resident mechanical & Electrical team.
- Disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts, including but not limited to powertrain, hydraulic, electrical AC/DC, and diesel engines in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
- Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.
- Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.
- Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner.
- Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.
- Prepare, inspect and test operate machines prior to turnover to customer after service..
- Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain professional conduct when performing and reporting of works performed and status of trouble shooting.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems for Customers Fleet.
- Perform related duties as part of resident team as and when assigned.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Expert in Servicing of CAT Diesel engines must have knowledge and capability to prepare and execute Services on other Manufactures packages (Perkins, CGT) With the Assistance of External supplier to plan prepare manpower and parts, oversee the repair, service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel powered heavy equipment.
Experience
- Number of years relevant industry experience: 8 years minimum
Education Requirements
- BSC Engineering or relevant
Physical Requirements
- Strong health and safety ethic
- 28/28 rotation
