The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of Repair Engineering. This internship program applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a variety of assignments in support of Houston repair operations. This role will work on small projects or portions of larger projects, shadow and assist repair engineering and other shop personnel as assigned, develop their own recommendations for resolving assigned technical issues, assist with documentation organization/improvement, and contribute to overall repair operations local to Houston South Sam Operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Review inspection forms, certificates, production routers and other records for completeness.
- Assist repair specialists in issuing work instructions to the shop floor
- Reformat old technical work instructions and procedures
- Learn steam turbine design, function, and repair techniques.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.
- Must have effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience
- Power industry preferred but none required
Education Requirements
- Must be enrolled full-time in an ABET accredited engineering program at a four -year college or university
- Prefer Mechanical Engineering
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or greater
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, be able to climb stairs and ladders and able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to be comfortable working in repair shop environment.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
