As Controls Engineer you will take primary responsibility for the management of all instrumentation and controls related to Power Plant, performance of activities as part of the equipment current operation, minor repairs, informing the GTPP Superintendent and instructing personnel directly involved in O&M of Power Plant equipment on all matters related to operation and maintenance as per manufacturer standards and procedures.

Covered units produced by GE and Alstom:
- PG6561B (3 units) and PG6581B (1 unit) gas turbines complete with compressors, load gearboxes and auxiliary gearboxes, turbine starting systems, fuel supply systems, lubrication systems, air supply systems, cooling systems, and other auxiliary turbine systems;
- Т190-240 (3 units) and Т214-234 (1 unit) generator sets;
- Mark V turbine control systems with HMI (human-machine interface) and modernized control systems Mark VI as they are installed on the turbines

Job Responsibilities

  • Shall perform activities specified in his scope of work and abide by Consultant’s instructions.
  • Controls Engineer shall carry out regular equipment technical condition examination and inspection. Where there is a deviation from predetermined operating conditions, shall undertake endeavors to identify and eliminate the cause of a deviation.
  • As necessary prepares a report with specified results paying attention to areas for improvement to guide the personnel directly involved in O&M of power plant equipment to continually improve the level of O&M of equipment. The inspection results shall be formed as a report and submitted for the Client’s review.
  • Ensure timely and effective maintenance of Mark V or Mark VI control system equipment, reveal and eliminate all possible failures and malfunctions in equipment operation. Upon company's request, participate in investigations related to deviations from specified turbines and generators operating modes or turbines and generators emergency shutdown.
  • Prepare a daily report specifying key O&M data and focusing on potential critical conditions.
  • The report shall include but not be limited to: - Current status of equipment, operating mode, technical condition. - Review of abnormal situations, recommendations for further equipment operation.
  • Contact the Operations and Maintenance Manager on a daily basis to clarify the priority actions, control system performance results and agree recommendations for personnel.
  • Upon company's request conduct Mark V or Mark VI control system training for company's personnel.
  • Make detailed work scope for each agreed outage.
  • Identify any logic modification or changes subjected to company plant management of change procedures.
  • Prepare list of parts required for each of planned and unplanned maintenance & inspections.
  • Assist company with regular reviews of maintenance activities associated with the control aspects of the covered units

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Gas Turbines and Generators, particularly on control systems ie. Mk V, MkVIe, Bently Nevada
  • Broad experience with gas turbine control systems. Fully conversant with programming language and controls configuration software tools used in these systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Experience

  • Number of years relevant industry experience: 8 years minimum

Education Requirements

  • BSC in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or relevant

Physical Requirements

  • Strong health and safety ethic
  • Offshore work
  • 28/28 rotation
