This Mechanical Maintenance Technician role is based in Crockett Cogeneration located in Crockett, CA. The position will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, aligning, maintaining and repairing rotating and stationary equipment used in the power generation industry. This equipment includes, but is not limited to the Combustion Turbine Generators, Steam Turbine Generator, HRSG, and auxiliary equipment. Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. The position will report to the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.

Annual Salary for this opportunity is $110,240.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Duties will include pump alignments, overhauling, calibrating, welding work as required including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Diagnoses and repairs the cause of mechanical equipment malfunctions such as pumps, valves, fans, piping, structures, tools, etc. Reviews oil analysis and vibration data and alerts manager of out of limit trends.
  • Install new mechanical equipment as required.
  • Properly use mechanical testing equipment and other similar tools.
  • Perform (with assistance as needed) the maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative maintenance or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes, submits and clears corrective work orders for approval.
  • Initiate purchase orders, coordinates with and directs outside contractors as required to ensure completion of position responsibilities.
  • Read meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid flows and levels control.
  • Keep O&M Managers fully informed of unusual conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations.
  • Visually inspects and listens to equipment to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication
  • Use facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range.
  • Fully support the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System by displaying a proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy.
  • Perform CMMS data entry and work order close-out in a thorough and timely fashion.
  • Show diligence in documenting spare parts usage and re-ordering.
  • Perform capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Repair, replace, dismantle and examine defective parts along with lubricating and cleaning parts.
  • Diagnose cause of mechanical and operational malfunction or failure of equipment.
  • Read, understands and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
  • Responsible for efficient management of the warehouse with Maintenance Manager.
  • Work overtime, or irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of their designated areas.
  • May be required to operate a fork lift and similar equipment.
  • May be required to drive a licensed motor vehicle to supply or repair facilities to deliver or retrieve parts or materials for the facility.
  • Cooperates and participates as a team member.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Facility Management as needed

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's.
  • Write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel.
  • Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
  • Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion.
  • Proficient at repairing, replacing, dismantling and inspecting defective plant equipment and parts such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components.
  • Capable of operating welding and cutting equipment and completes metal fabrication projects.
  • Proficient at Water Chemistry.
  • Capable of setting up and operating a drill press, pipe threading machine, grinder and other various tools to make and repair parts and equipment.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in a power generation or process plant working in a mechanical maintenance role. Or equivalent experience.

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements

  • Vision abilities required.
  • Sitting for extended periods may be required.
  • The employee must be able to transport up to 50 pounds.
