This 1st Shift Grit Blaster position performs abrasive blasting and peening operations in the overhaul and repair of gas turbine and compressor blade equipment. Successful candidates should have a basic understanding of a machine shop environment, and practice safe work habits. This position does require some shift flexibility to support operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow personal safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling procedures, and guidelines
- Keep area organized and clean
- Verify that grit-blasting equipment is in acceptable working order
- Ensure the proper blast media and pressure are utilized
- Ensure in-process inspection equipment is within calibration
- Report faulty operations in a timely manner to supervision
- Comply with process sequence sheets, travel routers, QA procedures, and repair manual procedures to satisfy customer and FAA requirements
- Identify and report any problems relating to the product, process, or quality system to supervision.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Skilled in use of various hand tools
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to organize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English per FAA Regulations
- Able to work as part of a team
- Ability to train others as required
- Flexibility with work schedule
- Ability to learn tasks required to perform the job
Experience
- 0-2 years of direct experience
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Good Dexterity (grip, grasp, clutch)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive motion of hands and wrists
- Regularly stand with both hands in a blasting cabinet while performing duties
- Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, and crouch
- Exposure to noise #ZR
