Machinist with the ability to set up and machine simple to complex parts. Will be able to machine a wide range of different alloy materials, including, but not limited to, numerous types and variations of stainless, aluminum, bronze, alloy, and carbon steel with tight tolerances. Will utilize conventional tool machines to machine and fabricate as instructed. The daily task of the machinist will also include, but is not limited to, machine maintenance and housekeeping. Work with mechanical department. Facility is located in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Layouts, set-up and operating conventional machine tools as required.
  • Reading and interpreting engineered drawings, which includes but not limited to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Create simple to complex tooling when necessary.
  • Machine small and large complex parts with very small margin for error.
  • Perform advanced set ups on mills or lathes and machine all types of materials without assistance.
  • Designing setup methods where none exists.
  • Working with other shop personnel on proper machining techniques.
  • Continually improving methods to deliver higher quality production with improved costs.
  • Machine maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Ability to set up conventional machine tools which includes, but not limited to horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes, horizontal & vertical boring mills, surface grinders, etc.
  • Must be proficient with measuring tools, measuring to ten thousandth/inch.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience in advanced and detailed machining.

Experience

  • Openness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays, when required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and keep a high level of professionalism.
  • Four years of experience in machine shop operations is recommended.

Education Requirements

  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
