This is an exciting opportunity to work in an organization that can provide exposure to all aspects of steam turbine design. We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Designer experienced in CAD and 2D/3D parametric modelling, experience in turbomachinery is a plus but not required. The candidate must be able to multi-task, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be capable of being lead designer on small scale projects. You must be a proactive self-starter and thrive in a fast pace working environment where teamwork is essential to achieve success.

Job Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities for candidates for this position include but are not limited to the following: 1) Working with reversal data (i.e. Point cloud data, hand measurements, meshed scan data) to generate geometry/models using commercially available software for use in engineering design and analysis. 2) Generate 2D steam turbine cross-sections for use in design process. 3) Generate detailed drawings of components for manufacturing. 4) Provide presentations and prepare reports to communicate and document design activities for design and drawing reviews. 5) Provide technical support to internal engineering as well as sales/marketing for use in customer presentations. 6) Provide support for reversal activity by early identification of required data collection during reversals. 7) Support manufacturing shops with technical advice, co-operative problem solving, disposition of product deviations, and follow through on requests for design improvements. 8) Work effectively within cross functional and multi-disciplinary design activities for steam turbine modifications, upgrades, rerates etc. 9) Lead a design group of 1 to 2 people on small scale projects.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • It is necessary to be able to communicate effectively with management, customers, suppliers and manufacturing personnel including the ability to write clear instructions, specifications and reports. Effective presentation skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, effective at solving problems with minimal guidance and familiar with ANSI standards.

Experience

  • · 5 to 10 years of experience in turbo-machinery engineering design and/or support. Internships and co-ops will be considered qualifying experience to fulfill this requirement. · Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, GOM, NX or related modeling software, Microsoft Office & Windows as well as a working knowledge of PC operation and maintenance is necessary.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor/Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or CAD Design (certification will be considered) with GPA greater than 3.2.
