We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will provide direct engineering support to the EthosEnergy LT workshop and provide engineering solutions in the form of processes, procedures and technical guidance in support of the gas turbine and gearbox overhaul process. Implement continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality, engine test first time pass yield and on-time delivery.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide timely advice and support to production technicians in support of machinery disassembly, disposition, refurbishment, assembly and performance test.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures and formal technical standards for EthosEnergy workshop activities.
  • Review and approve part and assembly concessions in accordance with good engineering practices and impact analysis methodologies.
  • Address Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and implement technical corrective and preventative actions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in gas turbine engine tests and interpret performance and vibration data.
  • Design and implement production tooling.
  • Develop and implement inspection criteria and part repair solutions aimed at producing high quality, cost effective repairs for use on gas turbines and associated rotating equipment.
  • Act as a technical first point of contact for vendors in support of quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Participate in complex root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative solutions.
  • Liaise with workshop technicians, field technicians, engineers, business leaders and customers to address product issues that develop in the field.
  • Author technical reports including equipment and customer reports.
  • Comply with company and local HSE requirements through both own actions and through encouraging others.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Detailed understanding of key engineering disciplines within the field of high speed rotational machinery, and be able to apply the required level of competence in machinery disassembly, disposition, repair and refurbishment, assembly and performance test.
  • Strong understanding of gas turbines and an ability to interpret performance data.
  • Strong understanding of rotor balance and the ability to implement theoretical and practical solutions.
  • Strong ability to apply theoretical and practical vibration analysis principles and practices. Vibration analyst CAT II certification or better desirable.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of engineering experience in the field of high speed rotational machinery or completion of a two year graduate rotation program.
  • Root Cause Analysis experience desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Solar range of gas turbines very desirable.
  • Familiarity of API 616, 684 and 687 desirable.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional engineering license (Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent) beneficial but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office environment and a workshop environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb.
  • Must be permanent US Resident or citizen of USA
